Although the money you spend will mostly depend on the kind of cellphone you buy, where and when you buy your phone will also influence the cost. Shopping online and timing your purchase may help you save a lot of money.
Online cellphone deals
Buying a cellphone online has the advantage of saving you time going out and lining up in a store. Online retailers may also have better offers on cellphones and accompanying phone plans. Cellphone service providers pay their agents commissions when the agents sign up new customers. Since more and more people are buying online, these agents receive more commissions and therefore are in a better position to offer bigger and better discounts to their customers. Also, with the great number of cellphone retailers online, it is easier and faster to compare cellphone prices, features, and plans.
Holiday discounts for cellphones
Purchasing the latest cellphone model as soon as it comes out guarantees that you will pay the highest possible price for it. By just waiting a few weeks or months, you may save tens or even hundreds of dollars, not just on the cell phone model but also with the plan offered with it. The best deals usually come from sales before and after major holidays such as New Year’s, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Buying online adds to your savings and convenience, as you no longer have to battle crowds such as those found on Black Friday.
With minimal effort and patience on your part, you can get the best deal on a new cell phone.

You can expect to use your cellphone almost any hour of the day so if you are looking for one, you need a unit that is sturdy with all the features that you can use. There are a lot of cell phones out there that come with both useful and frivolous features. Making a comparison between phones is important if you want the best phone for your money.
Gettting the best deal for your money
Comparing phones will help you identify which phones have all the features you need. Making a price comparison also helps if you want to get a phone with the most features for less money. Make comparisons of cell phone deals as well. Some providers offer a certain phone plan coupled with a cell phone. If you use your cell phone all throughout the day, getting a plan may be more cost-effective in the long run. You can do comparison shopping most effectively online, where you can search through different vendors and see different cell phone models with one click of a mouse. There are comparison shopping sites online that lists their products according to features and prices side by side so that you don’t have to switch from one site to another.
Making better buying decisions
Making comparisons is always a part of wise shopping. If you don’t look for other options and compare, you may end up buying a phone with less features and later on see a phone with more useful features for the same price.
Making comparisons is important when you are shopping for anything, not just a cellular phone. To get the best deal for your money, look for various choices before you settle on the one that has all the features you need at a price that you can afford.

With so many cell phone models saturating the market, it may be bewildering to make a cell phone purchase. In fact, the best option may seem to be simply to pick the least expensive model and plan you see. This strategy may end up costing you more in the long run. However, by just spending a little time comparing cell phones, you can get maximum value for your budget.
Helps you get the best deal for your money
Today’s cell phone is equipped for much more than calls and text messages. However, paying for features you’ll never use is practically throwing away your money. By comparing cell phone models, you can select the cell phone model that will be most useful for you. Comparing how cell phones measure up with regard to battery life, durability, cost and ease of repair, and warranty will also enable you to see which model will be the most cost effective and convenient for you in the long run.
Helps you make the best buying decisions
When you buy a cell phone, it usually comes with a phone company plan. By comparing the plans that come along with the desired model, you can cut down on additional costs. A high-end phone may come with a very low tag price, but may bind you to a plan that bills you a lot, every month, for a long time. You should also consider the cell phone’s compatibility with existing and upcoming technology. Sometimes, a cell phone may look like a good bargain, but its specifications may have you needing to buy a new phone in just a few months’ time.
Being well-informed before buying your cell phone will make sure that you get the cell phone model best suited to your needs at the lowest possible price.

Mobile phones, these days, have upgraded from just being phones. Now, your mobile phone purchase can mean buying your own mobile multimedia center, complete with camera, music player, video, and the internet. But then again, do you really need all these?
Focus on necessary mobile phone features you'll actually use.
In your mobile phone purchase, it is ideal to focus on features that you’d actually use rather than go with cool-looking full-featured phones that you won’t use as much. When you cut down to the necessities, such as actual telephoning capabilities, memory, and maybe a medium-quality camera, you can potentially save on your mobile purchase costs.
Shop from more than one mobile phone dealer for price comparison.
It is also a good idea to canvass for pricing first, instead of buying at the first store that you find. This way, you can compare each store’s pricing. Different mobile stores have different markup rates. So, you will likely encounter different pricing schemes at each shop.
Wait a while until the mobile phone model drops its price.
Likewise, if you can hold off on buying, do so. Prices of certain phone models drop during sale season. Likewise, once newer models or upgrades come out, the prices of older models drop.

Is your cell phone a friend or a foe? Now, I don't want to stir any controversy to an already clogged up issue whether technology is evil or not. But when I bought my phone, I had to answer that question in mind. Cell phone manufacturers are too wary of each other that they seem to move in a single flow. Basically, they all have the same features but different ads, colors, and designs. So it's really hard to seal the deal!
At first glance, I already knew that my phone's meant for me. I fell in love at first sight, and much more when I touched it. I knew that the style soothes my character (silent but deadly!) and I like the simple glam. The love of my life? A Sony Ericsson kit.
I have a thing for Sony Ericsson phones. I think that they give justice to image and photos and unlike Nokia, it not too flashy or gaudy. I like mine in quiet elegance.
On the other hand, my sister's much obsessed with Nokia Phones. She proclaims it as more user-friendly and a leader when it comes to design. We would end up arguing, but I'd always stick it out with my Sony and she'll always choose her Nokia.
Even with splitting views, we agreed on one thing. When it comes to flip tops, nothing beats Samsung. They're the flip top gods. They know every form and style to match that eloquent beauty. I'd suggest that whatever brand you choose, always ask yourself if it's a friend or a foe. If you want it to be simple and user-friendly, go for Nokia. But if you want a good image and LCD screen, I'd suggest Sony Ericsson.

Snooping around for a handy phone, Michelle found herself in several cell phone boutiques. She called it boutiques because these mobile phones were displayed and advertised in a way that hot stuffs like Armani and Louis Vuitton were flaunted in a public fashion market. She inquired and it's actually mind-boggling if she would go for style alone. Well, I saw them all as swans of science. There's definitely no ugly duckling from the batch so she inquired for the specs, but they're generally the same. So what will make them stand out?
My evaluations say that they are fine in designs. There are flip tops, the small and thin versions, the colored variation, and the sleek modes. But I don't want to push her to take the plunge so I thought of a better criteria. Something that speaks of personality and the need for its use. Not only that mobile phones are business necessities, I also thought that their specs open up for a downloadable applications and features whether through the internet or the wireless technology. Then I said "Size Does Matter".
I'm not looking for Godzilla to pop out of nowhere, but when I say size, it's the memory of the phone. Basically, like how much data can it take or absorb into the system. For Michelle, the idea was genius. The memory cards will absorb most of her needs into one power phone. So when buying a piece, go for my advice, and go beyond the shallow details! Because size does matter.

Don't you just feel the clouts of media slowly taking control? They are dictating what we need and what we should have! And we are under their leering spells.
Every year, how many models of cellular phones are launched? Today's technology is next month's vintage or artifact. There's too much commercialism and over provocative advertising and marketing. We are definitely bound by its magic spell. Every captivity amounts to loads of money and profit. Not that it's bad, actually it's how global trade works. But are we not robbed of our identity? We follow the trail, we follow the trends, we follow the bandwagon. We are all turning into a herd!
They say what's cool and what's not. We are fooled to believe what we see, like we are bottled up in paradigm. I am cell phone user myself and also in awe of the technology. But there's an itching alarm within me that creeps up to my purchasing power and choice.
Are we turning into mindless, impulsive consumers? There are better things in life to explore, with much greater value. The phones we use, the things we buy, aren't they supposed to represent who we are and what we need? Everyday, there are people dying, debts piling up, and people displaced from their lands. Isn't that of much greater value than obsession to cell phones?!

I'm swinging fast with the latest in communication technologies. I prefer my phones to be sleek, user-friendly, advance in its features and to have a competitive edge against sprouting models. My cell phone is one of my best fashion accessories wherever I go.
However, for my boss Al, cell phones are of quintessential value. He sternly uses it for business calls from foreign counterparts and emergency calls from his wife. He prefers the "flip phones", the way he calls it. From his point of view, it makes any men of his league look professional and rigidly intimidating. He's a no non-sense guy, so he ain't lured with MP3 specs and style.
I've seen him reach out for his phone in his vest jacket and even if it ain't one of the latest series, I have to admit, I'm quite intimidated. That got me thinking on my toes, your choice is who you are, and who you wish to be. Refuse the clutch of the bandwagon. The quintesssential specs of life is character. Besides, I'm not sure if I'll look at him the same way if I'll see him banging with MP3 music and fiddling with a colorful handset!
In buying phones, character and personality should be top of your list. There's always something new, something to talk about but do you really need it? Do you need to splurge? Stick it out with your buddy phone so long as you're satisfied!

I bought a used phone from the `Net last week. Quit smirking, there are certain advantages in buying used phones online. First, most of the phones sold in the `Net are from people who follow phone trends. Release of new phone models happen almost everyday, which translates to fast phone replacement for these people. Meaning, the phones they sold over the `Net are relatively newer and not battered. Second, the phones are sold for lower prices. A twenty percent discount on prices is not uncommon, even if the phone is equipped with new Bluetooth technology. Third, these deals are highly negotiable, you only need to get on the good side of the phone owner. Interested? Then read on how I got my new (used) phone.
Find a phone you like in a reputable used phone site. Research all you can about the mobile phone. Contact the phone owner and talk to him about the phone (date bought, features, phone plan). Ask for pictures of the phone and have them sent by email. If you're satisfied, ask to meet the owner (in a safe place!) and request to see the phone in person in its original box with all its paper and manual. Be reminded that the owners generally lower prices when phones are bought in cash.

Who says that leathers are just for bags, shoes, and belts? Now, even cellular phones can have leather cases too. Sounds great huh! I personally go for phones that spell not only comfort, but durability. Just like the modern digital computer, digital phones do not serve us best at times. In other words, these stuffs are outwardly stylish or trendy, but not durable. My truly durable phone actually helps me save money because it hardly gets destroyed or damaged thus, sparing me from unwanted repair or replacement.
It is a good thing that cellular phones can now get the much needed protection apart from our care. Robustic Multidapt leather case for cellphones is intricately designed in "Scandinavian Style". This style traces back its origin to the 1980', a period when craftsmen and carpenters are Scandinavia's frequent cellular phone users. These leathers are made of durable leathers from cattles. They have the superb absorbing ability or effect and great designs that suit various specifications. These and several other features of these leather cases are really worthy of your bucks for your mobile phone's protection. It is indeed a great buy, now I can just put my cellphone anywhere because I know it is durably protected.

If people are raving for MP3 players, then MP3 phones are making these gadgets a second priority. And why do you think people should go for a music phone? Simple: You get a mobile phone that can double as an MP3 player when the need for music arises. What should it offer by the way? Nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just the usual stuff that people got used to; only that there's an added future that's going to make it twice as exciting.
Some of the music phone models that claim that they have tied-up with Apple, just failed to amaze me. I thought you can easily purchase songs from iTunes or other music service and not just download the ordinary way but I was wrong. They also have limited space, making it hard for music lovers out there. Imagine having to store only a hundred songs?
Who do you think can put up with that? An ideal music phone should have a memory capacity that's sized just right and won't run out of space. A good music phone should not be limited by just good looks and design, in the first place it's functionality that were up to.

There are thousands, or millions, or products available online. Almost all manufacturers have created their websites to promote their presence in the World Wide Web. You can find online the list of books, insurance, houses, watches, home and office appliances, and even mobile phones. Yes, cell phones are being offered online, too.
Although it is more convenient to shop via Internet, there are still some precautions that you have to consider. So, when you buy a cell phone online, you must check the site if it is reliable. It should have a security lock feature that will secure your personal informations. The company should have 24/7 customer service support, and provide other channels for communication like telephone and email. If possible, check the main office of the company. These are important to secure your personal accounts, like credit cards and email.
If credit card is not available as mode of payment, request that the mobile phone will be sent to you through COD. Then, pay through a cheque or bank-to-bank. And of course, keep all the transaction receipts (email) of the purchased product.

If you're blind and feel left out in the mobile age, your alienated days are over - for there are now phones that talk! Symbian-operated mobile phones should be the first of your options in buying a cellphone. This is because much like accessible computer programs, developers such as Nuance and Code Factory now offer blind-accessive applications for most modern mobile phones.
The Nokia s60 phones are a sure bet when it comes to compatibility, intuitiveness, and ease of use. The Nuance Talks application is compatible to most series 60 phones, and it offers its blind users powerful functionality in navigating the features of the series 60 mobile phones. This application is available as a demonstration version free download from the developer's website.
Code Factory's Mobile Speak is also a screen reading application for series 60 mobile phones. It provides its blind users the ability to read, send and create either text or multimedia messages, view, edit and create new contacts, or just about every feature any user would be able to access Mobile Speak is also free to download as a demonstration version for evaluation purposes, and the downloadable files also contain other accessible Symbian-compatible applications, such as an accessible calculator, media player, games, etc.

Saving money in buying high-tech handheld devices and cellular phones is not a matter of choosing the cheapest brands, but rather it is a matter of choosing the most reliable products. You are likely to incur more expenses if you buy the inappropriate gadget to suit your work or personal needs. You will only end up buying new gadgets or spending money to have them fixed.
In buying cellular phones, you must not immediately be influenced by the bandwagon or by the glamorous advertisements. Some of the past trendy cellular phone models proved to be impractical or bulky. One example of this is the innovation of providing certain cellular phone models with QWERTY typing keys. The additional keys only made some models look bulky. The less successful cellular phone model with QWERTY key pad is the Nokia 5510. Although the typing speed may relatively become faster, the QWERTY feature of Nokia 5510 is not very significant considering its low-tech features which are similar to Nokia 3310. The only difference was the keypad. On the other hand, there are cellular phone models such as the Nokia 6822 that is appropriately equipped with QWERTY keypad.

There are many cellphones out there. You might purchase a phone that you really won't need. Don't waste your valuable dollars on a mistake. Here are a few questions you might need to answer before purchasing a mobile phone.
1. What do I need it for?
2. Do I need to store a month's appointment?
3. Do I need to MP3s in my phone?
4. Do I need to use this phone outside the country?
5. Can this phone manage and organize my contacts list?
6. How many messages can I store in this phone?
4. How long does this phone's battery last?
5. Can it connect to the Internet via WiFi technology?
6. Does it have Bluetooth wireless capability?
7. How much does it weigh?
8. How does it fit my everyday outfits?
9. How long is the warranty?
10. How much does it cost?
There are many types of cellphones nowadays. You can choose from the various designs and features the phone for you. There are cellphones with cameras, with MP3 players, with personal digital assistant, and some with full-featured computer.
If you answer these questions honestly, then you can decide on the cellphone that will perfectly suit you. Remember, it's not about having the latest cellphone. It's about having the cellphone that you really need.

Every time I look for a cellphone I look at the style first. It's not that the features aren't important, they are of course. It's just that your cellphone is something that you hold onto everyday. Might as well buy something that would look attractive for you. And it should be something that you can lug around without complaining on how wide the phone is or how heavy it is. It's actually very important to like the physical features of your phone for it to last with you.
Don't even rely on the phone trends. If you do not like the new phone models, better stick to the old ones. You're guaranteed personal contentment and satisfaction if you opt for the cellphones that suit you the best. Trend phones tend to fade away when new sets of cellphones come out the market. If you want the right phone, you must like the features. Physical features and internal features should be useful and they should suit your lifestyle. I suggest that you buy cellphones with cameras. That way, you'd be carrying around an instant camera without the hassle of bringing along a real one. If you're a person who likes to surf the internet a lot, you should opt for cellphones that have internet connection. And you could also go for the cellphones with Bluetooth connection that would make file sending a whole lot easier.

To make things easy, here are a few tips when buying, caring for and checking out the features of your new cellphone:
Consider the battery life. It's a lot like buying notebooks--you need to get a a long lasting battery so you won't have to carry an extra. Then you should check the quality of the sound to make sure you're not getting a poor product. Bluetooth technology-enabled and hands free cellphones will prove to be a great convenience when you're making calls in your car.
To protect your cellphone from breakage and scratches, buy a screen protector and a case.

Once seen as a luxury, mobile phone is now one of the basic needs of people. You need cell phone for contacting people especially to discuss urgent matters. You need a cell phone more if your work involves a constant communication with your clients wherever you are.
There are several tips you must consider before buying a mobile phone regardless of it model. They are the following:
First, choose a phone not only according to its looks but also according to your needs. Determining the main function of the phone for you helps you narrow down your options. Second, shop and have as many choices as you can. You can either browse through the internet or visit an auction store. Third and last, select a plan that suits your needs and your budget.

Choosing the right cell phone plan is as important as choosing what phone you're going to use. With so many choices for plans offered by numerous companies, like AT&T wireless (now owned by Cingular) and Verizon, it can be a difficult and confusing task to choose the right one.
Actually, it's quite simple to choose the right plan for your purposes. All you need do is to know just how you'll be using your phone. There are plans for almost any type of user out there, from the casual phone talker to the heavy-use text and message-based gadget freak.
A point of caution for those shopping for plans out there: Don't get carried away by the hype you may read or hear. Just choose the one that best fits your lifestyle, and you'll have an easier time using your phone.

This phone came in the early part of the change from the 2nd to the 3rd generation phones, and the transition from b&w to colored LCD's. As a result, this phone lacks the features one would expect of a current phone, and would seem rushed.
Looks wise, the Siemens M56 is a winner. Stylish and bold, the design appeals to the aggressive part in you. Features wise, look elsewhere. Its color LCD is a measly 4,096 colors and the camera comes as an add-on, not built in. It has no Bluetooth or infrared, and its phonebook holds only a few contacts and the battery life is a bit short on target.
While it does have voice notes, a speakerphone and text capability, the Siemens M56 is simply a transitional phone, quickly left behind by the next wave of bigger, better phones.
Sunday, July 30. 2006
Just how much of a phone do you need? I mean, features like Bluetooth and infrared are cool, and so is having a mega pixel camera on your phone, but do you really need a phone that's more of a toy than a communication device?
What I'm saying is, before you buy a phone, make sure you know what you're buying it for. If you just want a phone to call your boss, family and friends and aren't that "feature-focused," then a simple, inexpensive phone will just be right for you.
I'm not saying that features like having a hi-resolution video camera or a colored screen aren't necessary, but maybe it's time you bought a phone with function over fashion.

Today, more and more people are foregoing the use of regular landlines in favor of using mobile phones as their contact number. There are good reasons for this, as there is only one bill to worry about, you can carry it anywhere you go, so contacting you will be so much easier.
The downside to this, however, is that you can only have one phone for each number, unlike traditional landlines that can have multiple phones per number. You also might find that your cell phone number is unlisted, but for some people that may be a relief. And of course, there's internet access. Surfing is dramatically slower with a mobile phone than with a landline.
So before you decide which option is for you, think it over carefully.

A big part of cell phone plan advertising is on whether it's a by-the-minute plan or a by-the-second plan. While it may not sound much to you, in reality the choice might gave you a wad of cash.
By-the-minute plans bill you for the amount of time you use, rounded off to the nearest minute. This means that you are billed a minute for a 40 second call. I can see your eyebrows rising now.
This type of plan is more appropriate for the businessman who spends a lot of time talking to clients over the phone.
By-the-second plans charge you for the exact time you spend using the phone for calls. No rounding off here. If you call for 30 seconds, you're billed for only 30 seconds. A great plan for those who don't use the phone too much or are on a budget.
So what plan will you choose?

This may seem like an easy question to answer, but keep this in mind when you ask yourself whether to choose an analog or digital phone: There are still places, some remote places within the United States and Canada, where analog service is all that's available.
Digital service is definitely better than analog, as analog phones are larger, use more power and can't match the wide range of services that digital phones offer.
The rule of thumb is this: If you're a city slicker, get a digital phone. If you ocasionaly go out in the country, choose a phone that has both analog and digital capability. That way, you're getting the best of both worlds.
