Samsung made another first in the world. Samsung has just launched the "Ultra Editions' phones at CommunicAsia 2006 in Singapore as the world's slimmest
mobile phones. Samsung claims that these new phones are not only powerful and slimmer than ever, their sizes also disguise their strength. To illustrate its vision for the future of mobile communication, Samsung introduces its new range of phones that include phones with 6.9mm, 9.9 and 12.9mm thin. In connection with this, Samsung gave these three phones model numbers that will reflect their "thinness." For instance, the Ultra Edition 6.9 is called as X820, Ultra Edition 12.9 as D900 and Ultra Edition 9.9 as D830. X820 is the new candy bar flagship, D900 being the world's slimmest slider and D830 as the world's slimmest clamshell.
According to Samsung, it has designed these phones to achieve a balance between thin design and inner strength making these new phones more durable. The
South Korean company is able to attain this objective by using new materials and technology. Despite its thinness, these phone are still equipped with camera with high resolution video recording capability, multi-format music players, Bluetooth stereo headset support and advanced file viewers with support for TV output. It can be remembered that Samsung also released the SPH-N2000 in 2001, the company's first well-received 9.8mm mobile phone.
